What is the difference between the two modes?
Black box draws a rectangle on top of the text but keeps the copyable text layer. Permanently remove rebuilds each page as an image, so nothing is left to extract.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
Not directly — scans have no text layer to search. Run the OCR tool first, then redact.
Can I redact several words at once?
Yes, separate them with commas: names, numbers, reference codes.
